Yorkshire and Humber
Yorkshire and Humber
Work started on this RUS in May 2006 and the Draft for Consultation was published in September 2008. Consultation closed on 18 December 2008, and the final RUS was published on 15 July 2009.
The Yorkshire and Humber Route Utilisation Strategy covers services operating throughout the Yorkshire and Humber Region.
The RUS addresses a number of gaps, including peak and off-peak crowding, regional links and freight growth. The most significant of these gaps concerns overcrowding on peak time passenger services into the major conurbations of Leeds and Sheffield. A number of options are proposed to address these gaps including train lengthening and additional services into these cities.
The RUS also identifies growing demand for services between Leeds and Sheffield and Manchester and proposes new services across the Pennines to address this.
